I'm back in the blogging world, y'all!

When someone suggested that I start a blog a few years ago, it sounded like a good idea, but I knew I wasn't committed. Today, I stand before you fully ready to commit! (Yes family, you can put me back on your favorites list and you'll no longer have to curse my name when the same blog post shows up EVERY.SINGLE.TIME that you refresh my blog! woohoo! It's just what you've wanted for so long!)

My last semester of classes started a few weeks ago, and I'm completely in love with it so far! I've really fallen into a great groove of studying hard and have accomplished a lot just in these past few weeks. Because it's my last semester of classes, I have a tough load ahead of me, but I don't think I've ever been more on top of my game.

My biggest tasks this semester include designing and carrying out a research project about the efficiency of social media marketing in rural towns, writing a new radio segment for KBYI 94.3 FM, working on some campaigns for the local library (hopefully!), and searching my little heart out for an internship for next semester. I've been trying to brainstorm ideas for my internship, but am having a difficult time, since I'll have to stay in the Rexburg area until Mat's done with school (2+ years). You all know that I've been dreaming of finding an internship in the music industry, but it's hard when you're nowhere near the music industry hub cities. So, I will likely end up with an internship at a local radio station or library. BUT, just the other day, I happened to stumble upon an exciting, wonderful, magnificent, gloooorious, and ideal internship idea! Thank you @ACMawards for making my week!

.....How perfect would it be if I can land this internship? It's my dream job. No joke. Country music awards shows make me as excited as a 5 year old on Christmas morning, and this internship is right up my alley. So, I'm working hard on polishing my resume before applying, and really hoping and praying that I might be able to get it. Click on the picture below to check it out. Anyone who would like to start sending good vibes my way is more than welcome!

No Pictures for a While

So....my computer isn't reading my camera card. The camera card is working fine in my camera itself, so I think it's my computer. Honestly, I'm going to have to buy a new laptop soon anyway....the screen is literally HANGING by two wires. It can't be opened unless the monitor is propped up against something. SAD! So, until I get a new laptop in the next few months, I won't be able to upload any pictures.

American Idol Experience

Today we got to watch the American Idol Experience show at Hollywood studios. Basically, I loved it! I've always been a HUGE fan of the show (sadly we don't have a TV this semester and I haven't even seen a single episode yet...crazy!) Anyway, they have several shows throughout the day where people try out and the audience votes. We got to watch the finale for the night, where the top 7 winners competed. The winner of the finale gets a golden ticket to audition at any of the audition sites. It was super fun, and there were really funny judges that acted just like Randy, Paula, and Simon. (By the way, someone tell me...is the show good without Paula and with Ellen this season??) I loved it! The lights and set were SO realistic, it really felt like you were watching the show in the audience! Too bad there was no Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Chris Daughtry, or David Archuleta! haha

Where I Live...

Here are a couple pictures of where I live...we have a pretty big pool, pool table, ping pong table, tennis courts, a gym, and a sand volleyball court RIGHT by our apartments. We're in the perfect location in our little neighborhood! There's also this HUGE swamp behind us. It's like a lake...I'm wondering if there's any area where we could walk around it, but I couldn't find a path or anything today. I'll have to check it out sometime. But look how pretty our area is! :)

First Day In the Parks

Yesterday we headed to the parks as soon as we got out of our first "training". We went to Magic Kingdom and rode most of the rides in Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Adventureland and Frontierland. My favorite (and pretty much everyone else's favorite) of the day was Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. We rode it 3 times in a row laughing and screaming the entire time. Fun stuff. At the end of the night, we watched the fireworks at Magic Kingdom and then caught the monorail to Epcot to see the nightly Firworks/lights/fire/laser/etc show there. I can't remember what it was called, but it was REALLY awesome. Can't wait to see it again!

I was surprised at how different Magic Kingdom is from Disneyland. I've only been to Disney World once, and I expected them to be a lot more alike, but things are in totally different places than I expected and it seems a lot bigger than Disneyland. I was surprised.

Oh yeah, it's cool...they aren't quite done taking down the Christmas decorations, and Main Street is still decorated really cute. Love it!
One more thing....I didn't cry on It's A Small World After All!!!! haha

Here are some pictures from yesterday...

I'm an Official Cast Member!

It's official! I'm a Walt Disney World cast member! This morning we had to be up bright and early for a four hour training meeting. We headed to the Disney University and learned more about the company and the program. During the training we got to walk around in the underground tunnels under Magic Kingdom and take a little walk down main street and New Orleans square to observe some of the Disney principles of service. At the end of training, Mickey Mouse himself brought us our nametags. Woohoo! Oh, and we also got our passes to the parks! SO...as soon as one of my roommates gets back in a few minutes, we're headed to either Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios for the rest of the night. YAY!

Here's my roommate Whitney and I with our new nametags! :)

Florida Fun So Far

Mama reminded me that I should blog over the next few months so everyone can hear about my adventures. It'll also be a nice journal for me, so I don't mind.

I'm here! The past couple days have been so busy. On Sunday morning, my parents drove me down to Albuquerque and I flew by myself to Orlando, and I spent the night in a hotel by myself. I had fun talking on the phone to Vanessa for hours...and jumping on the bed just a LITTLE bit. (Don't worry Mom, I didn't make a mess or lots of noise, I promise!) I had a tough time getting to sleep because I was so excited to wake up and start my Disney adventure.

Yesterday morning, Nicole's cousin Ryan picked me up and took me to check in. I got my apartment assignment and moved my stuff in. My apartment is great! There are two rooms, two bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. I can't believe how HUGE my closet is...I really should take a picture soon. It's too bad that I have a huge apartment when I only have about a 1/4 of my stuff here in Florida. Anyway, once my roommates finally showed up, we headed to the Disney casting building to find out our roles and fill out mountains of paperwork. We were in lines for hours, but it was good to get things out of the way.

Like I said, I got my role! I'll be working at the All-Star Music Food Court at the All-Star Resort. I still don't know much about it until I start training on Thursday, but I'm excited that my role has to do with music. I remember talking to them about how I really love music during my interview, so I guess it makes sense! All of my new friends have such different roles. Some are working at the parks (MGM, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom) but others are working at resorts or downtown Disney. We're all excited to get started!

Today was pretty much a free move-in day, but we were already moved in yesterday. SO, we headed down to Downtown Disney and walked around all afternoon. We grabbed lunch, walked around, and had fun. It's awesome, I've already made friends with a big group of fun Mormon kids. They're all from BYU-Idaho and Provo, and so easy and fun to hang out with.

TOMORROW IS THE EXCITING DAY!! We have a four hour meeting called "traditions," where we will be learning more about the company, and then......we get our passes and will be set loose in the parks! We can't decide where we're going to head first, but I think it will probably be Magic Kingdom or MGM. I can't wait!

The sad thing is, I'm already exhausted! But, I'm sure I'll have enough energy to have a lot of fun tomorrow! This all feels like a dream still...
